Older works

Welcome to the page of my older works. These are works that I made  that I didn't think were good enough for the main page or those that I made before the accademy. It's a mixed bag of anything and everything, from my very beginnings as an animator to the different schools and classes I've been to.

(The works, other than the collection of small animations, are from newest to oldest)

This collection of works is only from St. Lucas, when I was studying Game art and Animation. A lot of these animations were from the 'weekly animation assignments' with some that were part of bigger projects.

Marmoris

The last practice I worked on during the 2nd year was Commercial with a specification for branding and the theme water. The group I joined was a jolly bunch of 3 other students with very different backgrounds. (Marit, Brid and Rodney) Together we worked on a brand called Marmoris. This brand collects plastic waste from the waters around the world and gives it new life. Clothing for example. These products are for rent, so you have to return it. Over time, perhaps people see more value in these products, which makes them think twice about throwing it in the ocean.

(Video is made by Brid, but the animations were made by me. Unfortunately, a part of animations is seen as a youtube short, which didn't allow me to show them off here)

3D animation

Although I partly studied 3D at St. Lucas, so far it seems it just isn't my cup of tea. This animation was the only 3D animation in the first year at WdKA that we all had to make. I chose the audio: "Trashbag of potatoes" and I had to create a "On the road" movie with this audio.

This became the final version of that process. There is a lot of background work that I absolutely enjoyed, for the characters and the colours etc. But the animation is a bit stiff.

A happy mushroom dance

This animation was made in my first year at WdKA for a very small assignment during the practices. This quick afternoon animation was not made to be perfect, but more to make people happy. Which it luckily did.

UNSEEN

In my first year at WdKA we had to create an educational animation, about something related to Rotterdam. I found an article about colonialism and the history of Rotterdam in that regard. Which made me think about my own family's story, since they are from Indonesia.

The animation is a bit of a mixed bag for me, I fondly remember working on the animation it self, but I do not fondly remember how it came to be.

I still think that the story is important to tell because trauma can genuinly go from generation to generation. We can see that all over the world, how people are still affected by things that have long past.

Maybe someday I will rework this animation to make it a better version of itself.

The Witches Hour

One of the several animations made during my school years at St. Lucas in Eindhoven. These were created in a GIF assignment, however I put them together to create one bigger animation.

Not ventured, nothing gained

This school project was created in my first year at St. Lucas in Eindhoven. We had to form groups and make a stopmotion animation. I joined forces with two others, one of which left St. Lucas that same year and the other, Sander, finished his study at St. Lucas. I created the fox on paper, while Sander helped out with the photo's and the digital animation.

The animation that got me into St. Lucas

This school project was created in my first year at St. Lucas in Eindhoven. We had to form groups and make a stopmotion animation. Still very new to animation, this was one of the last bigger works I created on paper. Through this animation I was accepted at St. Lucas in Eindhoven.

For Game Art and Animation.

My very first animation

I created this animation in high school on paper, without having any animation knowledge. Except for one video from James Baxter on how he animated Spirit for dreamworks. I wanted to try animation, because it looked incredibly interesting and it seemed to fit my personal way of working a lot.

Even though it is old, i'm still very proud of what I achieved within 6 weeks.
